Regarding Damro's Overcoming Training and Development Issue, this article focuses on additional factors that must be considered when implementing and evaluating the results.
Is this issue related to other companies?
Yes, The lack of training and development of staff is an issue in both the private and public sectors in Sri Lanka. In the public sector, in particular, many employees and employers need to learn more about what they do in their jobs. The government has to pay a considerable amount for this problem, and many companies in Sri Lanka usually try to recruit people with the most skills and knowledge. In addition, many companies have offered training programs to new workers during the probation period. In the typical situation in the country, an employer seeks over ten years of experience when holding a management position. Otherwise, employees are unable to perform well.
Challenges are faced when implementing training and development programs in Damro
Training and development cost
A company has spent a considerable amount on training programs in a year. Damro allocates a substantial amount when planning programs, including transport, accommodation, hotels, food, and outsourcing hiring people. Sometimes, they get people from Panasonic and Samsung fron related to factories in Japan and India.
However, This includes financial constraints, a lack of qualified trainers, and inadequate training facilities or materials.
The challenge in acquiring high-capable human resources with adequate levels of Education
It is challenging to find the right people for the position.it is unable to discover human resources with adequate levels of Education it is a massive challenge for training and development (Abdullah, 2009,p.12).
Organisations must assess the skills, knowledge, and competencies required for individual roles and organisational goals. Identifying training needs is crucial.
Resistance to Change and Limited Employee Engagement
Damro salespeople always face this challenge under their programs because the workload and target-oriented job role may reduce employee engagement and resistance to change.
Technological Challenges
Challenge: Keeping up with technological advancements and integrating technology into training programs can take time and effort. This includes implementing e-learning platforms, virtual training tools, and other digital resources.
Online learning offers unlimited learning opportunities to users, though there are merely printed versions of traditional knowledge (Naresh, and Reddy, 2015). Many workers in Damro prefer to avoid online training programs, and they do better with conventional methods. Sometimes, older workers prefer to avoid new training methods like e-learning.
Disadvantages of not having proper training programs for Damro
- Lack of customer retention and satisfaction
- There can be more complaints from customers and poor customer service
- After-sales expenses as a whole will grow
- Magic numbers for sales and profits might decline.
- Having satisfied customers and offering them quality services
- Boost revenue and earnings
- A company's assets are its informed and skilled workforce
- A vital factor for increasing brand name
However, finding skilled persons for management and sales is critical to the future of the Damro company, so They will have to make more training and development plans to address this future issue. This is because the current economic situation leads people to love to work outside the country, and skilled people try to shift to other countries.
